Maybe it’s Taco Tuesday in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and you’re all dressed up with nowhere to go. If this is the case, don’t worry. La Crosse’s taco scene is strong and full of opportunities for you to test how many tacos you can eat on an average weeknight. Here are the top taco places in La Crosse you should check out.

1. Burritos House

Don’t let the name fool you. Yes, Burritos House happens to serve some of the area’s best burritos, but you’ll find an impressive array of tacos here as well. Every day can be Taco Tuesday, thanks to this restaurant’s $2 tacos filled with anything from chorizo and lengua to beefsteak and vegetables. The Burritos House’s humble style is in stark contrast to the simple but delicious authentic tacos that come out of its kitchen.

2. Iguana’s Mexican Street Cafe

If you’re looking for a great restaurant where you grab a tasty taco dinner for the family, head to Iguana’s Mexican Street Cafe. This quaint restaurant has a full menu of Mexican cuisine favorites, but it’s the tacos we keep coming back for. You can get a taco for $2.50, filled with your choice of steak, grilled chicken, chorizo, al pastor, or fish and shrimp. The veggie tacos, featuring corn, mushrooms, onions, and peppers, are worth trying regardless of whether or not you’re a vegetarian.

3. Senor Villa

Senor Villa is a family-style Mexican restaurant that’s certainly worth the visit. You’ll find premium taco dinners at this restaurant. Our favorites are the tacos pastor with marinated pork and the tacos camarones with shrimp, pico, and cheese. If you’re dining with people who aren’t there for the tacos, Senor Villa’s wide selection of entree options is sure to please a crowd of varying tastes.

4. Fiesta Mexicana

Once you taste the authentic-style Mexican food at Fiesta Mexicana, you’ll want to return again and again. Bring your friends and start your dinner off with an order of fajita nachos and chicken taquitos before you dig into some of the area’s greatest tacos. Fiesta Mexicana’s fish tacos are particularly good and feature grilled tilapia with special spices, pico, onions, and cilantro on corn tortillas. This restaurant is one of our favorite places to go if we want to spend an hour or two with friends and family while enjoying great Mexican food and a couple of margaritas on a Friday night.

5. Tequila’s Bar & Grill

Try Tequila’s Bar & Grill on a nice summer day to sit out on the patio and enjoy your tacos. Order a frozen margarita and a combination dinner with all your favorite staples when you have a Mexican food craving that won’t quit. Be sure to try Tequila’s other offerings as well, such as the fantastic green enchiladas.

Whether you’re looking for a quick taco pick-me-up or you want to make a family-and-friends production out of your taco night, these La Crosse restaurants can get you what you need. Try each and let us know which restaurant you think reigns supreme when it comes to making a top-notch taco.
