The thought of indulging in a favorite treat after a long day, or just because, always brings a smile to people’s faces. When your sweet tooth begs for some attention, La Crosse has a few options whether you want candy, chocolate, or something else.

1. Finnottes Nut and Chocolate Shop

Do you enjoy a salty and sweet combination in your sweet treat? Then, Finnottes Nut and Chocolate Shop — located at 417 Main Street — has everything to satisfy your craving. During your visit to the store, you can enjoy specialty items like a classic caramel apple or check out their selection of old fashioned candy for a taste of nostalgia. If you are looking for a midday energy boost, try their chocolate-covered espresso beans.

You can combine your favorite chocolates with various nutty snack mixes for the perfect sweet-and-salty treat. Finnottes Nut and Chocolate Shop also stocks several gluten-free and sugar-free items so everyone can indulge. They sell drinks in the store if you need something to go with your treat.

2. Sweets Bar

Sweets Bar, at 101 State Street, has a history unlike that of your everyday sweets store at it’s a physical reminder of a hotel that used to be a candy factory. Basically, the Sweets Bar is The Charmant Boutique Hotel’s way of honoring its sweet past. When you stop by, you can watch Indulgence Chocolatiers make a variety of indulgent truffles. They are made throughout the day, so the menu tends to change.

Some of the flavors at Sweets Bar include Mint, Raspberry Matcha, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, and a spicy Coconut Habanero. If you like Earl Grey tea, you may want to try the Lemon Curd and Earl Grey or Raspberry Earl Grey. This sweets spot also has a few adult flavors, including Hard Apple Cider and Almond Praline. You can enjoy your truffles in the bar or take them home.

3. Ranison Ice Cream and Candy

If you’re torn between candy and ice cream when it comes to sweets, check out Ranison Ice Cream and Candy. You can enjoy both at the shop’s address at 706 S 16th Street. For candy, the store stocks 13 flavors of saltwater taffy and classics like wax bottles, rock candy, and assorted gummies. Besides the boxed options, they hand-make 40 different chocolate treats every day. Some of the varieties include fudge, bark, truffles, and nut clusters. And if you like spicy and sweet, try the homemade cinnamon sticks.

Pair your favorite candies with a soda in a glass bottle, such as a Coke or root beer. You can also try the 1919 Root Beer in a variety of sizes while you enjoy your treat. There are frozen treats to enjoy as Ranison makes floats and ice cream sodas. You can also indulge in 48 different flavors of a single, double, or triple scoop of ice cream in a cone.

It’s easier than ever to treat yourself — or surprise someone with something special — at La Crosse. So, check out the menu at each location for unique offerings worthy of future recommendations.
