2021 Jeep Renegade
A two-row SUV with seating up to five people, the 2021 Jeep Renegade is the smallest SUV in Jeep's lineup but don't let its small stature deter you from checking out all it has to offer. This subcompact SUV provides you with an exciting driving experience thanks to its Wrangler-inspired styling and off-roading capabilities.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
With four available trims (Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk), there's bound to be a Renegade that works best for your needs. Its exterior has many of Jeep's famous attributes, including round headlights, a seven-slotted grille, and a rugged vibe. However, it does possess several modern features found in its black trim, curved surfaces, and "X" found on the taillights.
Engine (Power)
To get you where you need to go, the Renegade comes with two engine options. The base 2.4-liter engine produces 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the 1.3-liter turbocharged engine gets 177 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. Both come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive is optional.
Performance
When it comes to fuel economy for the Renegade, expect to get an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway with the base engine. The numbers dip slightly with the 1.3-liter turbocharged engine, as you should get around 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
The Renegade remains a capable off-roading vehicle, particularly the Trailhawk trim. The SUV can easily traverse across loose gravel with assistance from its advanced traction control system. It can also safely travel up and over vehicles due to its 8.7 inches of ground clearance and multiple skid plates. Also, when properly equipped with all-wheel drive and the Class III tow package, the SUV can tow a maximum of 2,000 pounds.
Interior
Thanks to a high driving position, the Renegade gives you a commanding view of the road, which is something most other vehicles in its class fail to do. Outward visibility is excellent as well. All passengers enjoy soft and supportive seats as well as generous leg- and headroom. Manually adjustable seats adorned with cloth upholstery come standard, although the upper trims offer premium amenities such as leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, and heated front seats and steering wheel.
If you're looking to transport items, the Renegade boasts above-average cargo space. With the rear seats upright, you get 18.5 cubic feet of space, while folding down these seats increases that number to 50.8.
To keep everyone connected, the Renegade comes standard with an infotainment system along with a 7.0-inch touch-screen display. This system is paired with a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Available upgrades include an 8.4-inch touch-screen display, navigation, HD radio, and an extra USB port.
Safety Features
For 2021, Jeep makes many active standard safety features standard, including blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane-keep assist. Other available features include adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and hands-free parallel park assist.
