2020 Jeep Gladiator
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a unique specimen in the realm of modern off-road vehicles. The midsize truck has the feel of a rugged, adventurous thoroughbred matched in tune by a versatile design and unwavering endurance. Here's a look at the Gladiator's unrivaled potential on and off the trails.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This vehicle splits into Sport, Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon trims. The North Edition comes with a limited run, and the Mojave is set to hit the market this spring. Each offers a range of outdoor essentials, including, but not limited to, a folding soft-top with sunroof, all-inclusive lamps, and a 5-foot steel cargo bed with optional tie-downs.
Some features are also trim-specific. The Mojave, for instance, boasts a hood with orange decals and scooping center, as well as a badge of approval for desert driving. Meanwhile, other custom tools include a three-piece hard top, side steps, and dramatic exterior paints such as Firecracker Red and Punk'n Metallic.
Engine (Power)
The Jeep Gladiator runs on a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that pushes out a constant flow of energy: 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The unit also pairs with a six-speed manual transmission and uses a stop/start function to cut fuel and emission output caused by engine idling.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is also available, and it's the preferred choice for a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 set to debut in the coming months. According to Kelley Blue Book, this unit pours out 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
This truck meets the toughest of outdoor demands. Four-wheel drive allows for continuously challenging treks, thanks in part to a suspension system consisting of all-season tires and heavy-duty solid axles. Certain trims like the Rubicon add low-speed rock crawling and unmatched ground clearance to the list, including a 43.4-degree approach angle. The Mojave, on the other hand, bears a precision steering system, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and upgraded shocks and bump stops. More impressive still are the carrying capacities of the all-new Gladiator. This truck gets a class-topping payload of 1,700 pounds. It also tows up to 7,650 pounds when paired with an optional class IV receiver hitch mounted to the frame.
Interior
This five-seater reinforces the interior with cloth bucket seats and front recliners, illuminated cup holders, and a Uconnect touch screen. Look beyond the base trim for decorative leather accents, subtle storage cubbyholes, and updated multimedia systems. The North Edition further flaunts all-weather slush mats and GPS navigation, while the Mojave gets an exclusive, orange-stitched finish for the seats.
Space is a priority, too. You'll find a constant 42.8 inches of head room and 55.7 inches of shoulder room across the cabin. In addition, leg room extends up to 41.2 inches, while hip room reaches a cool 55.9-inch peak.
Safety Features
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator offers Sport-level amenities such as electronic roll mitigation, a Sentry Key anti-theft system, and roadside assistance coverage for 60 months or 100,000 miles. A jump to the Sport S unlocks options such as adaptive cruise control with a full-stop function and forward collision warning with full-speed monitoring. The Rubicon further adds available blind-spot detection and rear parking assistance.
