What is an Engine Tune-Up?
Some automotive experts have started to say tune-ups are outdated, but that’s not entirely true, considering much of it is part of routine automotive maintenance. Engine tune-ups consist of replacing necessary parts that keep your vehicle running smoothly, including spark plugs, cabin air filters, and fuel filters. During a tune-up service, automotive technicians will also inspect the vehicle’s engine and analyze its performance and can make adjustments and repairs accordingly. How often you need a tune-up service largely depends on the age of the vehicle. An older vehicle with a non-electric ignition system likely needs a tun-up once every 10,000 to 20,000 miles. A newer vehicle can go much further without getting a tune-up and should get one once every 30,000 to 100,000 miles. We highly recommend reading your vehicle owner’s manual for the manufacture’s recommendation or ask one of our expert technicians to better understand maintenance service intervals.
